Heliodyne Solar Water Heating: Cool Climate (Closed Loop)
The Heliodyne Cool Climate Closed Loop Packaged System is designed to operate in all regions, especially where hard water or freezing is an issue. In this closed loop design, a special heat transfer fluid circulates through the collectors instead of water, allowing greater durability and trouble-free operation.

HOW IT WORKS When there is sufficient heat to be drawn from the collectors, the controller automatically activates the pumps. Heated solar fluid is then circulated from the collectors, through the heat exchanger, where its heat is transferred to water in the storage tank. The solar liquid is then pumped back to the collectors to once again be reheated. This circulation loop will continue as long as there is heat to be drawn from the collectors. During times when there is little or no sun, a backup heating system will be activated to provide adequate hot water.
Packaged systems estimated to produce an average solar fraction up to 60%, provided the following installation guidelines are followed: 1. Collectors are mounted at the ideal angle of 35 degrees. 2. Collectors are mounted due south +/- 15 degrees. 3. The collectors are free of shading from nearby obstacles.
