White cotton is the traditional cloth of Ethiopia, in western Africa. Women wear white cotton dresses while men don tunics over riding pants. The most distinctive element of local dress, however, is a large white cloth most Ethiopian people wear over their shoulders and/or around the head.
The fine cotton used in these garments is produced locally in Ethiopia on both small, organic farms and in larger state-run agriculture centers. Weaving is done by hand on wooden or metal looms, and the cotton can be mixed with nylon and other fabrics to create amazing patterns and rich designs.
Hand-loomed Ethiopian cotton with a fashion color band of a cotton/acrylic mix will make you a hit anywhere on or near the beach!
