Four Season Mayan Hammocks |
Four Season Hammocks are handcrafted by the Mayan indians of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Used as the principal bed and furniture throughout the tropics of the Americas, the hammock also serves as lawn furniture for backyard relaxation, spare bed in home or student housing, and an excellent alternative to traditional tent camping. By providing greater latitude in campsite selection and never compacting the ground beneath it, the hammock is the choice for low impact and Leave No Trace camping. Being lightweight and compact it serves well for backpacking, bicycle touring, car camping, canoeing, kayaking, and cross country ski touring. Four Season Hammocks has designed and markets a rainfly specifically for hammocks. Using the hammock, rainfly, bivouac bag, down quilt or sleeping bag, and foam insulation pad, the hammock provides a superior camping bed through all weather conditions and all four seasons of the year.
These hammocks are handwoven by the Mayan Indians of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. They come in a variety of sizes, string thickness and colors. A tightly woven hammock is more durable and snag resistant and more labor intensive to create. The quality of the hammock is judged by the quality of the string and the fineness of weave. Our Mayan hammocks come in a wide variety of colors-- natural white, solid colors, rainbow stripes, bicolor stripes, blended stripes. Each hammocks is unique.
