A Summary of the World

If we could shrink the Earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people.......with all existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look like this:

There would be 60 Asians, 12 Europeans, 8 North Americans, 5 South Americans, and 16 Africans.

50 would be female; 50 would be male. 70 would be nonwhite; 30 white.

33 Christians, 18 Muslims, 16 nonreligious, 14 Hindu, 6 buddhists, 13 other.

47 would live in an urban setting.

43 would not have basic sanitation.

18 would not have clean water.

6 people would own 59% of the communities' wealth.

13 would be hungry or malnourished.

14 cannot read.  Only 7 have secondary education.

2 people would own a computer; 3 would have an internet connection.

1.12 trillion US dollars are spent on Military, while only 100 Billion on development aid.

53 would live on less than $2.00 a day; 18 living on less than $1.00 a day.
