Liege Killer Notes

I found it incongruous that Gillian and his team prepared so hard and then seemed so unprepared when they set the trap for Reemul. They knew that the Paratwa was expecting them how could they have just walked in like that not expecting a trap, trusting the inn keeper. Almost everything else Gillian did seemed so intelligent, how could he act so stupidly in such a critical situation?

And then when he found Reemul at the end with "a plan unfolding with Ash Ock clarity, structured down to the minutest detail." But he didn't have any plan and only survived because of a stroke of luck. How did he expect to win by himself when he had already lost twice with well-trained teams? He was being too stupid and this didn't fit the character who was actually very smart.
