"How can you list a top twenty all time list of Science fictions novels and not include any by Robert A Heinlein? Four of his books won Hugos and several others were as good. Surely "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" deserves to be on the list and "Starship Troopers" also. If you haven't read "Starship Troopers" because that horrid movie turned you off, please read it. It is and awesome book and it was a shame that movie could even have the same name." - Lucas Ward
We have reviews of both these books in the Hugo Award section and a really interesting discussion about Star Ship Troopers. I liked The Moon is a Harsh Mistress but it's probably only between 30 and 40 on my favorites list. - Steve 6/98
"Well, I can't argue about many of your picks. These are my favorites of your favorites: Dune, Slan, Ender's Game, Thomas Covenant - this is the book that was so hard for me to put down that I found myself reading it on the freeway while commuting to work at 70 mph. Now that's scary. But I would probably replace some of yours with these: CJ Cherryh - Cyteen - (or perhaps Fortress in the Eye of Time but I've only read it once and some books don't hold up well to multiple readings.) Joan Vinge - Snow Queen or one of the Cat books. (Its hard for me to choose one book of a series without spending some time.) CS Friedman - one of the True Night books. Jack Williamson - perhaps Darker Than You Think. It was rewritten in the late 40's but is my favorite of his books. Gregory Benford - one of the series that includes Tides of Light but not the one that tells about when they get to the center of the galaxy." - Lee Meador 7/14/98
