Green Empowerment provides technical, financial and organizational assistance to international community-based renewable projects generate social and environmental progress. Supported by private donations, foundations, businesses and international and governmental aid organizations, their mission is to promote community-based renewable energy projects internationally. Since their inception in 1997 they have grown to be an organization with a strong administrative structure and active volunteer board of directors. They utilize small hydropower, biomass, wind and solar power projects to energize communities and stimulate positive social and economic advances in an environmentally safe manner. All projects have a strong environmental protection component that includes watershed mapping, resource conservation planning and restoration activities. They emphasize local leadership, community participation and long-term economic and environmental sustainability. They partner with international NGOs (non-governmental organizations) engaged in renewable energy projects and assist with feasibility studies, project planning, technical training and project fundraising, looking to the local NGO's and communities to determine project priorities and goals.
